Urban Design Partners provided planning, civil engineering, landscape architecture, and construction administration services for the urban redevelopment and adaptive reuse of the historic textile mill. Urban Design Partners lead the rezoning efforts for the property that is now home to Duke Energy’s Innovation Center, Charlotte’s first food hall, restaurants, retail, a brewery, and several outdoor entertainment and dining areas. The site is adjacent to the Charlotte light rail and a portion of the property is in Norfolk Southern Railway right of way. Urban Design Partners also provided road realignment plans and facilitated the coordination of an adjacent City roadway improvement project. This project involved intensive collaboration between White Point Partners and Paces Properties, Norfolk Southern Railway, CATS, CDOT, and the City of Charlotte to work through site planning to meet the needs of the client while meeting the requirements of the jurisdictions involved.
