One Page Wonder: August - October 2021
Nathaniel Carr Senior Community
The Historic Nathaniel Carr Senior Community is located along the West Boulevard Corridor. This was the first Charlotte zoning petition where the petitioner and neighborhood entered into a community benefit agreement (CBA). This private agreement established mutual trust to ensure equity for the community and neighbors for many years to come. The project will provide up to 125 age-restricted units which will operate under a Workforce Housing Program to guarantee they are reasonably priced for those earning less than the median income. Affordable units will maintain monthly rent that are income restricted for households earning up to 80% of the area median income for a minimum period of 20 years. The rezoning process involved a continuous and engaging dialogue between the petitioner, the West Boulevard Neighborhood Coalition and the West Side Community Land Trust.
