Dutchman's Creek Greenway

  • Client: City of Mount Holly
  • Location: Mount Holly, NC
  • Size: 0.6 Miles
  • Services: Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture
  • Completion: 2019

Through the use of a Carolina Thread Trail Award grant, the City of Mount Holly was able to complete a key half-mile section of the trail at Dutchman’s Creek Greenway that would connect River Street Park to the East Charlotte Ave corridor. UDP provided planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, permitting, cost estimating, bidding, and construction administration services for the approximately 0.6-mile section of greenway. UDP evaluated potential trail routing and vertical alignment options and studied computer models to verify the alignment conformed to ADA guidelines for accessibility. Portions of the trail pass through areas of floodplain and wetlands, resulting in a section of the trail being constructed as a boardwalk. The UDP project team also, coordinated the connection to an existing pedestrian bridge at one end of the project trail section. UDP incorporated two amenity stations along the trail consisting of informational signage, seating areas, and observation areas. Also, included in the project scope was the development and incorporation of wayfinding signage and two trailhead stations, one at each end of the trail section.
